Driving in the Rain

June 27, 2011

Reading the title probably reminds you of a famous movie and a famous song. Well, unlike the movie and the song, driving in the rain tends to be less joy full. Driving in the rain can be difficult for the every car; from their motors to their tire. If you happen to choose to ride two hell motors instead of four wheels on car motors, then don’t expect any difference. Driving in the rain is dangerous, so here are few tips and advices.

First of all, don’t panic. Driving in the rain may be dangerous, but not that dangerous if you drive with perceptions. Since pouring rain reduces visibility and wet road can cause slipping and drifting, drive slowly.

When driving on a wet road, the draining of the water through the tire’s grooves will not be fast enough. So, that pressure will make the car slide on a thin layer of water. As a driver, you’ll sense that on the wheel because it won’t turn more then it suppose to be and the car will slide instead. This is easily prevented in slow speeds, especially when driving through corners. Sliding and drifting in corners may well end up in a traffic collision, so do your best to drive carefully.

Have proper windscreen wipers and in function at all times. You don’t want to be blinded by pouring rain. Car motors don’t like puddles of water. In higher speeds the water from the water puddles my splash on the car engine and wet internal combustion and leave you in the middle of puddle of water.
